What To Expect Before Your Appointment

Thank you for choosing Carolina Green Steam! We’re excited to serve you. Please review the information below so your appointment goes as smoothly as possible

Before Your Appointment

To help us provide the best possible results, we recommend:

  • Vacuum carpets, furniture, or tile before your appointment, especially if you have pets.
  • Pick up toys, clothing, and other small items from the areas being cleaned.
  • Remove fragile or valuable items from furniture, shelves, and tables near the work area.
  • Secure pets in a safe area away from our technicians and equipment.
  • Have someone 18 years or older available to approve the work and answer any questions.

Furniture

Our technicians do not move or disassemble furniture.

This includes:

  • Beds
  • Dressers
  • Entertainment centers
  • China cabinets
  • Sectional sofas
  • Recliners
  • Desks
  • Electronics
  • Pool tables
  • Pianos
  • Exercise equipment
  • Aquariums

For upholstery cleaning:

  • We clean all accessible surfaces.
  • If seat or back cushions are removable, we’ll clean both sides whenever possible.
  • We do not disassemble sectionals or take furniture apart.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming before our arrival helps improve results, especially in homes with pets.

Heavy pet hair can become woven into carpet fibers over time. While our pet package includes additional hair removal, no professional carpet cleaner can guarantee complete removal of embedded pet hair.

Pet Hair & Odor Expectations

Our standard carpet cleaning focuses on removing soil and improving the appearance of your carpet.

If your home has significant pet hair or pet odor, we recommend our Pet Package.

Please note:

  • Embedded pet hair cannot always be removed completely.
  • Pet odors caused by urine may require specialized odor treatments.
  • If urine has reached the carpet pad or subfloor, additional restoration services may be necessary.

Stain Removal

Most stains can be significantly improved, but no company can guarantee complete stain removal.

Several factors affect results, including:

  • Age of the stain
  • Previous cleaning attempts
  • Type of spill
  • Carpet fiber
  • Permanent discoloration
  • Dye damage
  • Bleach spots

Some stains are permanent and cannot be removed because the carpet dye has been altered.

Spot Wicking

Occasionally, spots may reappear after cleaning as moisture dries and residue travels back to the surface.

If this happens, let us know. Many wick-back spots can be corrected during a follow-up visit.

Dry Times

Typical drying times:

  • Carpet: 6 to 12 hours
  • Upholstery: 4 to 8 hours
  • Tile & Grout: Usually dry within 30 to 60 minutes

Dry times depend on:

  • Humidity
  • Airflow
  • Temperature
  • Carpet thickness

Running ceiling fans, HVAC, or opening windows (when humidity is low) can speed drying.

Walking on Damp Carpet

You may walk on the carpet immediately if necessary.

We recommend:

  • Clean socks
  • House shoes
  • Protective shoe covers

Avoid dirty shoes until carpets are completely dry.

Hardwood Floors

We take every precaution to protect your flooring.

However, moisture from freshly cleaned carpet can transfer to unfinished wood or sensitive flooring materials. Use caution until everything has dried completely.

Tile & Grout Cleaning

Tile cleaning removes embedded soil, oils, and contaminants.

Please note:

  • We cannot repair cracked grout.
  • Missing grout is not replaced during cleaning.
  • Permanent staining in grout may remain.
  • Sealing grout is recommended after cleaning to help reduce future staining.

Upholstery Cleaning

Before cleaning, our technician will inspect your furniture.

Some fabrics require special cleaning methods.

While we clean according to manufacturer recommendations, we cannot guarantee removal of every stain, odor, or discoloration.

Pressure Washing

Please close all windows and doors before our arrival.

Remove or secure:

  • Outdoor furniture
  • Decorations
  • Flags
  • Door mats
  • Potted plants near the work area

While we use professional equipment and techniques, we cannot guarantee removal of every stain, especially oxidation, rust, artillery fungus, or permanent discoloration.

Window Cleaning

Please remove valuables from window sills.

Some issues cannot be corrected through cleaning, including:

  • Failed window seals
  • Scratched glass
  • Hard water etching
  • Mineral staining
  • Oxidized frames

We’ll notify you if we discover any of these conditions.

Access to Water & Electricity

Our equipment requires access to:

  • A standard water source
  • A standard electrical outlet

Please ensure both are available during your appointment.

Payment

Payment is due upon completion unless prior arrangements have been made.

We accept all major credit cards and other approved payment methods.

Satisfaction Guarantee

If there’s an area we missed, please let us know within 7 days of your service.

We’ll gladly return to address any workmanship-related concerns.

Our guarantee does not cover:

  • Permanent stains
  • Wear
  • Traffic lane damage
  • Bleach spots
  • Furniture stains
  • Pet damage
  • Reappearing stains caused by wicking
  • New spills after service

What Our Clients Say...

How to prepare for Pressure Washing / Roof Cleaning:

Keeps Pets & Children Out Of The Way

While our team of professionals at Carolina Green Steam does all that we can to minimize inconvenience for you and your home, it will help us if you keep pets and small children inside the house while we work. The last thing we want is for an accident to happen, so we try to have residents stay in their homes or possibly go out as we clean the building.

Remove Obstacles & Obstructions

Pressure washing and soft washing often require precise aim and maneuverability, and this can be difficult if there are things such as lawn furniture, equipment, toys, vehicles and other things in the way. Depending on which aspect of your home is being washed, we require removing as many obstacles as possible so that your cleaning specialists can deliver the best level of service possible.

Make Sure All Windows & Doors Are Properly Sealed

Nobody wants water to seep into their home, so before we begin our job, you want to go around and check every door and window in your home to ensure they are properly closed and sealed. Check every single opening that leads into your home, especially if it’s in the primary area where the specialists are working. If you notice improper seals, you may want to invest in new sealants to close them up before the pressure washing begins.

Check Loose Window Screens

Window screens can become dislodged during a pressure washing if they haven’t been adequately secured. In some cases, it might actually be beneficial to remove them entirely before a pressure washing to minimize the chance of damage.
